in my attempt to paint the engine bay on my sons lx 4 door i removed the tags and welded the holes to make it look cleaner ........ i never did make note of where the tags should be and now im ready to re- install them ......... mmmmmmmmmm cant remember where they go and in what order .......... it was 12 plus years ago when i removed them ....... lol ....... any help would be appreciated ...... thanks

If you go to Shannons latest auction catalogue (Melbourne) lot 74 has a pic of the engine bay which should help.  Cheers Ron

thankyou both ..... liz clare and cook ........ the photo of your engine bay liz only shows two tags ......... ive got three of them ........... ill have a looksee on the shannons website

i took cook's advice and found the third tag position ......... i know which tag is in the middle but what tag goes on the drivers side please ........ is it the tag with the model,body no.,trim, paint, or is it the tag with the design rules the lx has to meet please

Yep, need to zoom in to see it and yes it is meant to be painted. ADR tag on driver's side, VIN in the centre, the other large tag on passenger side.

 

If you look at my pic you will see that there are two raised pads where the large tags fit and your car would still have the same pads.

LH8VD69 ...... i hear you and if i had a collectors type torana id be worried about tag removal and re fitting ........ i only have a common 4 door sedan so i dont think it should be an issue. I will be honest though, i did give it a lot of thought before i removed them and painting the engine bay 12 years ago ........ ( yeh i know ....... slow build)
