Hi there,

Struggling to find a part number and picture of the Universal and steering shaft that goes from the rack to to the flexible rubber knuckle that goes on the steering box, im after the one piece unit where the shaft is part of the universal. I have already looked at the online manuals on here and they seem to omit it. can anyone help with pictures and a part number.

Hi Harry,

there is no separate intermediate steering shaft for the LJ Torana. In both 4 and 6cyl models the steering rack & pinion shaft engages directly into the flexible coupling mounted to the end of the steering column shaft.

The only time I know of that an intermediate is used is when a V8 has been retrofitted thus requiring relocation & modifications to the steering column and pinion shaft to clear the exhaust manifold.

LH/LX Torana steering shaft universal joints are commonly used for the purpose.
