Just wondering if anyone knows why Holden put white paint splodges on the back of banjo diff housings under the black paint.  Put paint stripper on mine and when the black came off there was white paint there.

I think that it was just to confuse us in 40 years time.
Mine had green paint on the bump stop mount on the passenger side when I stripped it, green means "GO" right?

To be honest, I have no idea.

Works so far :)

Just as long as the green paint doesn't make the car faster on the passenger side than the drivers side. That'd make you 360

These were for a quality control purposes. Some were that the workers were checking to ensure that the parts were installed correctly and others were to identify the differences in parts on the shelf. E.g the white paint on your diff probably means it’s a “xxx” ratio diff and one with say a green marking would be a different ratio. Made it easier for when they were putting the cars together based on the build sheet for that car. A ln extremely simple yet very effective quality control system that is still used to this day in manufacturing 😁
Unfortunately I don’t know exactly what the white marking on your diff represents, but I’m sure someone else will be able to assist. Perhaps put up what ratio, year, etc. the diff is for others to compare against.
Cheers, Greeny

The diff is a 3.36 LSD in a 74 SLR.

I didn't remove the white paint yet and will probably paint over it.
