Hi guys

I do not drive my UTE with Holden 308 much. I started it after about a month and found that it did not want to idle smoothly even after warmed up.

I took her for a short drive but every time I came to a stop it would stall. (Its always idled smoothly before).

So when I got back I took off the air filter and played with the idle screw and found that when I screwed it in the engine got very rough and shaky, when I backed the screw all the way out the motor would smooth out.

Any idea why its doing this.

I am going to be rebuilding this carb soon. Would like to know what to be mindful of when working on it.

Just waiting for some parts to arrive.

As always I appreciate all the advice received.

Mine had a sticking power piston when it didn't want to idle and didn't love coming off idle.

After a full carby rebuild it was like a different engine.

Hoping mine will be like that after a rebuild.

In preparation for my carb rebuild I have been watching some rebuild videos.

I came across what is described as a notch on the inside of the airhorn which is meant to let in more air for big block motors or motors that has been worked.

I found that my carb has this notch on the airhorn which concerns me as perhaps the airhorn is not the original match for my carb

Can you guys advise whether the carb number mentioned is meant to have this notch or is the carb mismatched. I am not sure how to post pictures, if someone can advise I will post the pics to show what I am talking about.

I am just wandering if the airhorn is not correct for the carb, whether there will be any negative impact on the correct working of the carb.

Thanks in advance
