I have a 2007 ford ute, dedicated LPG.

Owned for around 5 years and used for work.

I have split a radiator hose and replaced the coil packs and a gas converter in this time. Not bad for its age.

This car takes a belting.

I am going to say that this is the most reliable car I have owned.

2005 V6 Prado.
Does heaps of towing etc, still drives almost like new.
205000km. Serviced as per the book.
Had a fuel pump issue and A/C condenser drama when new, apart from that, perfect reliability.

1992 Ford Maverick, 15 years 200,000 kms. axle seals and a welsh plug beyond standard service.  And Ford were the cause of the axle seals replacements. none of the 13 cars I have owned have come close.

2011 Subaru Exiga Liberty Wagon luxobarge. 100,000km in three years. Taught number one daughter to drive in it. Regular servicing and one set of tyres. Started first time every time. Reckon it was a time bomb though with all them electronical gizmos.

I didn’t own it, but 2011 v8 diesel land cruiser workmate wagon did 130,000km in 5 years. My work car. Dual batteries 24/7 fridge etc. Highway, urban, paddock, scrub and trail bashing. Regular servicing and tyres by the dozen. Not cheap but incredibly versatile and reliable. Traded for 2017 model.

2004 Prado 120 series TD. I bought it from where I work ex mine vehicle. It gets treated like crap, oil change when I get around to it, it just keeps on going. Still drives like new and not a rattle in it. d8e1576cac1434be1341f32920551d2b.jpg

G'day All

Just did a few sums on my SS and as I've owned it for 12 years, it has worked out to be about $20 a month

AND that is including tyres, battery, oil, filters etc and also including the now blown head gasket repairs so I think that is reasonable

That's also including going to every Toranafest since 2008 and a 2 week tour of Tassie in 2009 plus club runs etc so for me, that is reliability

Phunny thing about what happened on the Tassie tour was that the first vehicle to break down was one of the modern cars and when the knob of my drivers door window winder broke off, the missus laughed at me. Ha Ha, hers fell off the next day  :D

RegardSS ....Barry

Not my 2004 Holden VZ V6 Cab & Chassis that's for sure!

I think it would have to be the wife's 1980 Datsun Sunny, admittedly we did have the A12 & 4spd (145,000km) replaced with a low km imported A15 & 5 spd but there was nothing wrong with the A12, just lacked in the go dept.

Owned it for 6 years, otherwise it was just normal servicing, 1 set of new tyres, brake linings and shock absorbers.

Sold the Sunny in 97 and bought the VS Commodore.

N12 Nissan pulsar, had car for 9 years and put over 8ook  ks on it same motor from new, drove across and around australia

in it, drive line was bullet proof  but started to smoke before it went to crusher due to bad body rust, found if you keep oil and

filter changes up to any jap motor are good  for big ks

96 vs v6 commie had 240k on it when i brought it 12 years ago odometer stopped shortly after been daily ever since never had any mech faults no idea how many ks its done ive lent it out to various people over the years i used to give it hell but have eased up the last few years unfortunately its currently had its first major issue the ignition barrel has snapped the tang that turns the ignition switch so im hoping monday the new barrel will turn up an i can get it mobile again i miss not having the old beatter going.

now everything is pretty well shot on it but it just keeps on going , thank god for qld rego and no vehicle checks each year.

it has carted numerous holden 6 engines in the rear seats and boot area over the years so you can imagine the state of it.at one stage it was a single seater there was so much junk in it.

cheers

I had a string of commodores that I bought with 100-120 thousand Kay’s on the clock and drove until they had 160-170 on them. A VP, VR, VS and a VT. Changed the oil in them once in a while and had one alternator fail. Alternator cost me $65 from the wreckers. Deathly reliable.

Bought a used Toyota Corolla 1996 model or thereabouts with 120000 KM on it for a shopping trolley for the wife. Despite our combined best efforts at "extended" service intervals and her habit of telling me about a week after the oil light would stay on due to hilly terrain and low oil level it was sold as a learners first car at 440000 km, that was 3 years ago and still see it out on the road now and again.

What about a RX8. Nice looking car, but the 1.1ltr non turbo Guzzler ?? Only runs on 98 and drinks it like a Boeing 777. Even to top up the coolant, you had to be a mechanic. I remember a hard night on the turps, then waking up knowing something wasn't right. I was the winning bidder on Gray's . Nearly gave up drinking. Ray

Been pretty lucky all cars I have owned were/are reliable

- VL Calais, only owned it a few months before it was nicked but never any issues & all electronics worked

- LJ Torana, had to put in a reco trimatic after I bought it, but other than that just general maintenance, tyres & one battery and it was my daily for several years

- VX Berlina, had to do rear main seal on LS1 but otherwise just general servicing, tyres & one battery change. Was my daily, put about 100,000km on when I had it

- VF SV6 Wagon, only general servicing and not even 50,000km on it yet

Best car my parents had from new was an 86 Nissan Skyline, put over 200,000km on it, my brother & I both learnt to drive in it. Only sold it cause it cracked a head, but never any issues with it prior to that.

Worst car my parents had was an early Mazda 626 Wagon it always broke down when we were kids - I remember the radiator exploded one day sent the rad cap flying across the street! Another bad one they had was a UC Sunbird 6cyl, constant issues with brakes & overheating.
