Hey guys. i am having trouble opening the drivers rear door on my lx. The lock knob will not lift up. Anyone got any suggestion on how to open the door?

G’Day,

I’m wondering if you could remove the door trim to access the mechanism and free it up from inside the door.

I’m no expert though so hopefully someone who actually knows will help you out.

Cheers,

Liz :)

Could try jagging a coat hanger or similar wire down the window rubber or as Liz said off with the winder, armrest and door trim. Good luck. Scott

Coat hanger or packaging tape down between the window and door frame, is probably what I'd try 1st. The clip has, most likely came of the locking rod. If you have a spare door, you can see how the workings function, to grasp, what you need to do.

First thing is make sure the inner and outer door handles are fully closed, not stuck in a slightly open position.

I have a vague recollection that you can't unlock the door if someone is trying to open it at the same time?

Assuming the door is shut.
Take the knob off. Peek inside so you can see what you need to hook onto. You'll want a stiff bit of wire to hook onto the horizontal rod. Pull towards front of vehicle.

Thanks guys, I have pulled the door trim back and i can feel the lock knob moving the rod (h?). It will only move a couple of mm so it is still connected to the mech where it controls the lock. I can access anything else from inside. I will try and make sure both handles are closed when i get home. Thanks again for all the ideas. Also the door is closed but it is a parts car thats why i damaged the door trim.
