Hi all.

Rare Spares and Kingswood Country as well an eBay seller are offering brake backing plate to diff gaskets that look like this

Backing%20Plate%20Gasket.jpg

But they're all listed as Holden EJ EH HD HR HK HT HG Torana LC LJ but no one mentions LH/LX Torana.

Does anyone know if these will fit the later Toranas as well?

Thanks,

Greg.

Hi Greg

That is part number 7420713. It does not appear in either the LH or LX parts catalogues.

Cheers

Hmmm, the LX parts manual section on the diff has an exploded diagram which mentions a gasket between the housing and backing plate.

Wouldn't be the first time there was a mistake in a Holden manual though I guess.

Are people still running a gasket there?  I must say when I pulled mine apart there wasn't one there.

Don't usually bother with the gasket, but you could use that one if you like as it will be the same pattern

I've only ever seen gaskets between the brake backing plates and the axle retaining plate, never between the backing plate and the axle tube flange.

HQ onwards & Torana LH/LX/UC use a smaller diameter axle bearing & a different style of seal, which doesn't have a gasket.
