I currently run a 308, trimatic and 9inch diff.   The engine is putting out about 240hp.   It is currently running a catch can which I am think of removing and going back to a pcv.   It has a sniper EFI system on it as well, so I am unsure if it will effect the settings on it.   What are the pro's and cons of each and in the long run which will be better off.   It's just the fumes I'm sick of.

Dont need a catch can with a small engine set up. PCV and appropriate breather to the air cleaner will suffice..

You can always run a PCV with the catch can, definitely good to have the vacuum

So can I run a hose from the top of the can to the filter in a similar way to a pcv

PCV can be in the line from the engine to the catch can, or from the catch can to the intake. If you don't have a separate breather then you also need to think about where the fresh air is drawn in and where excess positive pressure might release. Either way the can needs to be able to hold a small vacuum rather than directly vented to atmosphere.
