Hi all

It’s been some years since I had to purchase an immobiliserfor a car but the Tory I have stumped for doesn’t have one.
The last one I bought was in 2001 and it was made by Mongoose.
I see plenty of cheap ones available on eBay these days - I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations or horror stories that can help sway my decision.
I’m kind of thinking a Mongoose M60 or so at the moment - doesn’t need to be audibly alarmed as the garage that it will live in is alarmed in an extreme manner.
Just after some piece of mind for the odd occasion it is parked out of sight for brief moments.

Fuel solenoid is the best bet I reckon as if someone actually gets to the point they are in your car to drive away they have time to sort out a kill switch but with the fuel shut off it starts and they think they are away but when it stops in middle of road they buggered . But these days not sure, times have changed, this sort of stuff only stops the dumb thief

My SS VT Commodore was stolen and recovered. I fixed it up and installed my own switch. From the wreckers I bought another transmission selector surround from a car that had traction control. I wired the traction control switch into the starter circuit. Auto's have a safety switch that stops the starter from operating if the auto is in gear. I wired my switch in series. So to start the car you have to turn the key and hold down the traction control switch. Worked a treat. Just over a year later the crooks tried again. They broke into the car, but couldn't get it started.

So my advice would be to wire in your own switch. Put it in series with the starter relay. A lot of manual cars will have this wire installed too, but it will be joined together. From memory the LX/LH Torana has a green wire somewhere on the trans tunnel for floor shift models.
