Another contradiction within the manuals is the Diff Pinion Nose Bumper.... 

 

The parts book showed it used across the entire range, where as the workshop manual shows it only used on 4cyls? The UC parts book shows it used across the range also? 

 

Can anyone confirm if they have seen this as factory fit on a L32 or L31 body?

Ahh interesting that LX parts book follows the LH workshop manual and lists it only for 4cyl in the parts listing, but still shows it for 5.0L in the breakdown....

Hi Brad.  I had a look at that recently to ascertain if I needed to include it but couldn't find any captive nuts on the undercarriage.  Mine is an LX 6cyl SL hatch.  Cheers Ron

2/78 SL, Factory 253 and 4 speed, no pinion bumper, never fitted, no holes.

You'll find them on LH 4cyl's and L34's.

UC's also have them.

There was a time when I thought it was an ALH vs BLH thing. Will see if my BLH L31 has it.

Why L34's and not L32 or L31?

BLH L31 doesn't have it.

In a few instances where the book says 5 Litre it means L34.
