Hi Guy's, just wondering if anyone has any special tricks to get those little chaps out. Obviously there's the 4 peened tabs, but the ac valves can still be a pain to get out. Gary.

Don't expect to get them out and be able re-use them. Always install new valves.

No Dave, i certainly don't want to re use the valves, just you want to do a neat job, not damage the body & those littles f@ckers are in pretty tight after nearly 50 years.

Are the old glass bowl pumps worth anything? I have a bunch I found in the workshop.

Depends on date code. Know of person paid heaps for one right date for his 73 XU1. Told him I had a box of them and would check dates but he had already bought one

By the time you put a lot of work in restoring them, they have to be complete, including the brass fittings & reasonably cheap. I try to restore them as good as possible & like new, so that's a fair amount of time in them.

Anything from 69 to 73, would be the only 1's worth putting any time or money into.

Yeah a quality kit is $90, if people knew the time involved & saw the end result, to me it's worth it.
