Probably jetting - maybe linkages but only guessing.

Will have vacuum ports for both ported and full vacuum and the canister suction port for the fuel bowl, and hence also a sealed fuel bowl.

And a cable throttle linkage which was introduced with LH and a little later HJ.

This carby is an ADR27A unit, with vacuum ports for EGR & fuel bowl vent to canister etc.etc.

It was fitted from May 1977 to April 1980.

It will need rejecting to suit an LC GTR & maybe some fiddling with the linkage as well.

Thanks Gents...just cleaning up and found it in an old box. I dont plan to use it, just thought it would be useful for someone with a GTR, but no dramas. Thanks.

Some of the ports in the venturi are sized differently as well.

You are probably better off with a pre 8-9th month ‘73 HT-HQ manual 253 carb if you can’t find a GTR or 186S one (there should be heaps of these carbs around though). The later HQ 253 manual would work too, just slightly different setup and sealed idle adjusters. Early LH or HJ 4.2 manual (1974 complianced) would work too, they are the same carb as the late HQ just have an adapter from memory for the cable throttle, these don’t have a sealed fuel bowl or canister port, but you need a manual one as auto do not have a ported vacuum port (unless you are running an auto of course).

The 186s and gtr are just dearer. Any non stock motor will benefit from re-jetting anyway. I’ve got a later one I’m planning to use and just plugged the canister pipe. I’m wondering if this could cause an issue

That is the fuel bowl vent, it really needs to be able to vent somehow. Quadrajets with sealed fuel bowls (1/75 onwards in Australia (7045371 numbered)) do it internally but the WW 2BBL have the pipe back to the canister for the vent. The flip side of the coin is you have access to both ported and full vacuum so it doesn’t matter what transmission you run.

Cheers Yel. Maybe I could plumb up to the intake or whack some coarse steel wool up the pipe and be done.

I’m not that up on these, but pretty sure they do vent internally but still vent to atmosphere at idle hence why the vent to canister was added, which is that extra pipe on the carb. Best bet is to run a small canister anyway, saves nasty in-cab fuel smells. I was planning on fitting a HJ-HZ style separator on my HK near the tank and hiding a little canister up in the engine bay to capture fuel tank vapour from both the factory filler breather (goes to above the diff) and the one off the VX/V2 in tank fuel pump. You could do similar, just need a little 3 port canister off a modern car, one line to tank, one to that fuel bowl fitting and a small pipe to a ported vacuum port in the carb.

Thanks. I’ll think about the canister.
