Doing my head in over this and yep have searched

Need to find out which is the correct wiper arm for a 76 LX 5000

Have 2 arms here but each is different

1 is the flat Trico one

One is a more rounded

Have also seen that the wire type is correct for LX 5000 but for 77 models / A9X

Seem to be going round in circles with this so could someone put it to bed

If it is the wire type I see Rares sell them so any info on the quality of them would be appreciated

Cheers

It may have just been a supply thing. When they needed 10,000 wiper arms they just went with the lowest quote? My '74 has the wire ones, but I don't know if they are original to the car.

Cheers Scott - 1 for the wire type

Haven't seen those on an LH before Laurie the pivot point below the wiper arm - possibly a 34 thing?

Like we spoke about I thought I was onto it but the further I dig the more confusing it gets

Cols LH 5000 is unpainted Trico type - flat wiper arm

My 2/76 SS (owned since 83 so pretty sure original) has similar to Laurie's except pivot in the middle and black finish.

Cheers Stuart

I trawled the sold section of the AMC sold sections and went through all of the "survivor" and "unrestored" sales they have had and it seems the LH had the flat Trico's and the LX SS and SLR had the wire type as above

The pooter I have has the touch screen so able to zoom in but still suffered the eye strain with an hour long trawl

There may have been a changeover period where they run out the Trico's with the LX but a 2/76 as above having the wire type it seems it didn't last long

Have bit the bullet and ordered a set from Rares see how they go

There is a set on evil bay for over 500 but i'm running short of kidney's

Cheers

Smart work Dave checking out AMC. I looked on the Rares site but couldn't find

any wiper arms for LX to compare to mine but l'm sure l read somewhere that the wire

ones were correct for LX SL/R & SS, so of course if you read it, it has to be true :P .

I had never really looked before, but I just had a gander through my pics and it seems that my L34 is the only one in the world without the flat Trico's. Ssoooo, have you come across another one yet?

I once owned a 2/76 SS 5000 & it had the twin wire 'anti-lift' wiper blade holders.

My 9/76 & 5/77 SS 5000 also have them.

Pretty sure LX SS & SLR were standard with the anti Lift wire type wipers. Ive seen lots over the years.

From memory the Mitsubishi Sigma of the same era also had the trico wire type anti lift wiper - they may have been a little longer than the torana ones

LH uses the same part number across the range. However in LX there is a different part number listed for the VD 69/77 body style.

All i looked at Laurie in the LH had the Trico's inc the 34's

May be one to take up with someone that knows  - (yknow ... the inner circle mob - shhh )  ;)

Nothing i saw on the trawl had the pivot like yours so must be a Bathurst thing  :spoton:

Hi Brad

Suppose that confirms things

LH Were same same across the range of models  - flat Trico's

LX were same same as above apart from SS and SLR

In the trawl i only concentrated on the 5 litre models  - but according to Brads spares manual above it would have covered the 6's and the 253 as well.

Good stuff

Just to throw a spanner in the works ....... which models had the pot metal wiper arms & which models had stainless steel ones?

I know that I still have 1 of the wire type on the shelf . I wonder if I have 2? :)

This is from the LX Supplementary parts book. I don't know what they were doing. The VD models seem to get different wipers, but I think it was the color not the construction. Does anyone know if Satin = stainless and black is satin black? The numbers and codes don't seem to be consistent.

BTW I have an SS Hatch with Satin black wipers and the bloody things don't lift/lock for cleaning the screen. Unless there is some trick to it that I don't know about.

Cheers, Steve.

Seems Col that they only had stainless - LH - LX or we would be looking at different part numbers

Have only ever seen SS in the LH Trico's - they were all Satin

From my LH parts catalogue only list one arm and one head for all LH variants.

Thanks Steve for the supplementary - all cool Aaron cheers for the input

Steve, would you have a date on the supp?

So it seems the LX model UG UH VB VC started with the same as LH ---- satin finish flat style Trico's
These were then amended as per Supplementary to part # 9941713 --- what are these?

The LX model VD started as 9940476 and then amended to 9942358 --- black style wire
Question here is what were the 9940476 - unpainted version of the wire ones?

You will look at them now every time you walk into the shed

No enlightenment from the inner circle?

Not sure but have a look here  - might be a better option but they look the goods

Even 200 bucks seems 150 more than they should be. I think there would be another set in the shed somewhere from that other sedan I bought in pieces.

Have to agree mate with the prices, but they are 40 odd years old now and the bulk of these jiggers are now living a new life as a mass produced letterboxes now bought from Bunnings, or in landfill

I was eyeing a reco set off, that are still on fleabay the bloke started out at $525 and he is now back down to $475 - LX wire set and was thinking "is this is what it has come to"

Both kidneys are gone now but i didn't think i would get that much for a spleen

People are hanging onto this stuff for dear life

Glad i went the way i did with the rares ones - they look the goods
