I can remember a time a while back when a good engine builder i was talking to said he recommended ACL race series to everyone he did machining work for.

I didnt get into the ifs and buts and whatnots with him at the time, but everything else he talked about was spot on information.

Not sure if this helps you exactly though.

But I guess a lot of it will come down to the boost pressure you will be dialling in, especially with head gaskets.

Sounds like you have your mind set on a decent combo.

Cheers

Interesting as my engine machinist said something similar. I normally use KING bearings but on the current 355 I am building for a V3 supercharger I have gone with his recommendations and am fitting ACL.

For my Hi-po (aspirated) 355 i asked my machinist who has some big runs on the board the same question. He said "race series, the std ones wont last."

I’m using ACL race series too in my 377 SBC at the suggestion of my engine machinist.

ACL race series is for heavy duty, high stress applications. They are not as pliable as the standard range. Meaning they will take a pounding but will hurt the crank with and debris in the oil or loss of pressure etc. The standard bearings are much more sacrificial and protect the crank during a failure but will get hammered in high hp motors.

Yeah Gene, heaps of bearings available. I think they still produce them but only bearings. Shame they dont still do all their other stuff. Especially head gaskets for the mighty 6.

I really dislike the penrite stuff. It's really stringy and almost slimish. I much prefer the CRC brand, has a consistency closer to a grease.

I recently made a pneumatic oil primer. Screws into the oil pressure sender hole. Fill it with 3-4L of oil, connect air to the regulator and pump away.
