Man, another one to trawl through. I have been going through this one for a day and a half. Mostly Tassie pics.

http://www.oldmotorsportphotos.com.au/  I thought it was the oldracephotos site at first, but it looks like this one has only recently popped up. I haven't seen any of the pics before.

Speaking of Bondy’s Bathurst car, I have been chasing a pic of his 2” SU he raced with. Any engine bay shots anyone?

Air conditioner in the box.

It was taped into the front of the car in front of the passenger seat I think.

It was the issue with the big valve heads from memory.

Gricey still did okay with the small valve heads from memory.

Cheers

Rob

I have never heard this story before Rob. Was it something to do with SL/E road cars having the heads?

Just to add to Lauries pic above

i researched my cars Holden Dealer Number..617

Pat Cullens Garage at liverpool

Pat was into racing and in 1970 entered A LC XU-1 (29 C) into the great race.the driver was

John Keran who at the time was the Australian Rally Car Champion

Car Started  23rd on the grid and crashed out badly Lap 38 at Mcphillany Park

Pics i have found of the crash

from what i could gather the car then was put onto a trailer and sent to other Holden Dealers to put on show

Yeah Laurie.

It was a homologation glitch that I believe was started by a Ford Team.

There was a mad rush at the local Holden dealer for all the SL/E bits.

They had tobe fitted to the cars, but it didnt say they had to be in the original location, so they got away with securing them wherever they could.

Unlike Gricey a few years before.

He got pinged in post race scrutineering for not having a thermostat fitted to the engine.

They later found it in the glove box.

Apparently his outgoing enginr man at the time wasnt happy about parting ways.

He apparently also notified the scrutineers and stewards of the problem.

Im only going by what I read many years ago, although I have little faith in journalists, unlike another seemingly missing member who thought that a journalists word was worth something.

Apparently a journalist saying all the cops wanting a certain car to drive was to be taken as gospel.

Cheers

Rob

Mate was in the car on that trip to Calder with GB. Apparently he didn’t let the trailer slow the GTS down on the Dukes Highway.
