Yet another warning that Supercars is going to implode. Sad to see Garry Rogers like this.

Supercars is at a cross road at the moment. I keep up to date with the stories on Speedcafe. To get an accurate opinion on what is happening....watch the Enforcer and the Dude (Russell Ingal and Paul Morris) episodes.

What is of real interest will be the outcome on the DJR Penske enquiry into the team decision for FC to hold back most of the field at Bathurst. Outcome should be announced later this week.

It will be points loss in some form as a guess. But I agree the whole thing has become a joke.

I have given up on it. The Bathurst telecast was the only V8 Supercars race I watched this year. Nobody is buying the ZB Commodore, so I don't want to watch it racing, and the Mustang just looks like a joke. At the very least, I believe the cars should look similar to what is on the road. Less aero wouldn't be a bad idea either. The whole field looks like they have a Stratco patio bolted onto the back of them.

I’m with you Laurie,

I went to Bathurst and had a fantastic time again this year but it’s the social side of things that gets me there. It is also the only race I would bother watching on the telly if I was at home although the trashy Channel 10 commercials really get to me these days.

Cheers,

Liz :)

Don't watch any races now not even Bathurst. Only checked updates on the net to follow Lowndes.

I wonder if they should go back towards racing cars in exactly showroom spec with the exception of safety kit, tyres etc... Yes, probably slower but I'd watch that.

I reckon they need a series with 2017 Ford and Holden Supercar chassis and body / drivetrains, with Barra Turbo and LS engines capped at 5 or 600 horsepower.

That I might watch.

Well that IS sad news

Only race i watched this year was Bathurst

Supercars have forgotten what it is all about - it is a RACE

Fastest car and driver from point A to B

This fuel strategy Fgucken BS where you back off cause we have to safe fuel crap isn't racing  - fill the bloody tank and get on with it

Would rather see a driver win by two laps that has driven a good drive than this "luck of the current scenario" crap

Take the restricted fuel fill rate out of it so the tyre changing / driver change / other works is the determining factor of the stop, and allow teams to put as much fuel as they want on board

Safety with the restricted fuel rate my arse there was more fuel going on the ground that day than in the cars

Sadly they have manipulated the rules to achieve the closest possible finish (because they think that that is exciting and what the punters want) but in doing so they have taken the essence of what Bathurst is - a race

Penalty has been given......McLauchlan keeps his win, FC relegated to last, $250,000 fine...$100,000 suspended, loss of 420 champion points.

Bathurst is good...maybe not as good as in the Group C /A days..but we still go on the Saturday to soak it up, then watch TV on Sunday.

Yes, the tweaking of the rules, continually, to make it "close" are a drama.

The outcome of the hearing seems a bit funny.
A "team" issues communication to their driver that results in him holding up most of the field.
The driver complies, and gets put last.
The "team" still wins the biggest race of the year.

A fine is issued to the "team", which is not small change, but hardly a fortune to the team.

Next year?...,budget for that expense, and do it again?

$250k wouldn't be much more than Roger Penske's airline bill, and Scott still has a 622 point lead in the championship so he won't exactly be sweating bullets either.
