Hi ,I'm after advise on this, I purchased a brand new windscreen off a mate ,it's NOS but not a Pilkington brand ,however when I got it home I noticed it had a slight green tint ,the old clear original Pilkington one has scratches in it but not too bad ,Im not sure whether to go with the tinted one or just reinstall the original one ,do you think the green tinted one would be very noticeable up against the rest of the clear glass ?opinions appreciated, cheers Paul.

Is there any current compliance issues with the tint on the tinted one? Something to consider?  Cheers Ron

Gene hopefully it won't stand out too much against the rest of the clear glass.Cook I'm not sure on compliance with that screen I just assumed it would be ok.

Hi Paul,

better off have scratch free glass. Mine has the tinted strip at the top and is probably green but I've never noticed.  I think the front glass being on a different angle to the side glass will make it hard to notice the difference.

The original one probably isn't laminated glass but the tinted one probably is. For your own safety I'd be using a windscreen with laminated glass.

Use the full tint screen. It is a laminated screen. I have a full tint screen in the LJ and I don't notice it unless I happen to think about it.

I thought the green tint screens were sought after. And it'll be easier on your eyes too.

Just wanted a few opinions from someone that may have one, I didn't want to fit it up and have it look like shit, only to pull it out again.

Wasn't a laminated screen optional in the LJ's? mine appears to have had a replacement laminated front screen which I think is dated 1974?

This looks to be 1972 dated however thats justa fluff spot I believe as 2nd photo puts the dot in the correct location

Shite keep adding the wrong photo, sorry

Yes, laminated front screens were an option in LJ.

I've decided to use my old front and rear windscreen seals as they are still ok ,so is the mylar locking strip available at Rares suitable for the original seals ? Thanks Paul.

Hi Paul,

That's what I did, it floats around in the gap a bit, but just centre it and it stays there. From memory the original corner pieces are too loose so they're glued in?? It's been a while.

I assume the Vehglass screen was the extra they made when I ordered a batch of 5 a few years back, so presumably if they made them then, they still can.

I believe Brad Merrick has the correct Mylar strip made to the original profile and measurements by the original manufacturer.
