So I've recently picked my self up a 2 door HB, not much interior, a 9" rear end and a LJ crossmember somewhat mounted under the front.
The plan is to recess the firewall (or completely redo) to fit in an ls1, box out rails front to rear and put it back on the road.
Theres not much info out there on these little HB's so any input would be appreciated

I belive so... theres a process of getting chassis torsion tested? I've got to look in to it further yet. The other option is the 800hp turbo v6 ecotec i was planning to put in a race car.
Ive had a look through some of the other members builds, lots of good info and pics

In WA at the moment it is almost impossible to get any LS motor engineered into any Torana.

If you can do it - do it, i say

I like the sound of the V6 as it would be a better fit

WA seem to be well behind the 8 ball when it comes to modifications.

They seem to use the national guidelines as gospel, along with a lot of individual engineers everywhere.

It seems there is no way to circumvent the dramas in WA as you have to get approval of mods first?

My local engineer seems to have it right.

You can do whatever you want, but the more you want the more it costs.

If you go past the guidelines, you then need to more to get it passed.

My talk with him seemed to be that the guidelines for engine size was for the car as basically stock elsewhere.

He told me if I wanted a bigger engine I would have to get bigger brakes for starters.

Then there would be seatbelts going retractable. And a possibility that the chassis might need strengthening.

Mind you this was an informal chat that was free.

If I wanted to do what I wanted, then he would have to start checking things and charging me.

Cheers

Rob
