Gday guys and Gals,
I recently discovered a broken hinge pin on a front door. I didn't do enough research and just bought replacement pins from Rare Spares expecting what I got from them to be correct for the car. What they sent me (pins only) wasn't the right quality of tensile steel replacement I expected and now I'm out another $100 to get what I need (the $100 kit does includes the pins and replacement loops). .

So, a word of caution to all, do your research. .
. .
Secondly, thanks a lot Rare Spares, if your going to sell a replacement part make sure its the right one and not a piece of imitation crap that isn't appropriate for the job.

Hi Ned,

I wonder if it is possible to get some made, mine are a bit bent in the green car as well so might need to know this for future reference.

RS sell a lot of parts that don't fit, found that out during my SS resto...

cheers,

Liz :)

If your prepared to pay for it you can get anything made up, whether its worth it or not. The $100 kit is all you need for a single door so I guess all told its not to bad, I think I paid around $40 for just the crap pins at RS (I like that abreviation, well done, lol)

Someone on EBay was reproducing the hinge pins. They were very good quality and fitted well. That's what I used.

Yep, thats where I got the second set from. As to finding a second hand set....I needed to replace the loops(bushes) as well so pretty much stuck with having to deal with the ebay dude.
