The lx8 adventra rim and tyre is a 17x8 rim with 225 55 17 tyre. Approximately 678mm tall.
They tyres I will be running on the front are going to be 255 35 18. They are around 635mm tall.
So they drop 43mm total or 21.5mm top and bottom. This will lower it a further 21mm plus the extra weight on the springs and they will need to settle in properly too.
The wheel is perfectly centered in the wheel arch and sits just inside the guard as they sit now.
When the flairs go on I will have another 70mm to run dish on the front.
I don't care what anyone says but to me you have to have dish on a rim to look good.

No one with taste would argue with that.

I still can't believe I've got this far with such a massive conversion.
It still has a long way to go but each time I get to spend a bit of time on it another item gets ticked off the list.

I so dam lucky to have a lot of people around me who when I've asked questions they are more than willing to offer their knowledge of parts and what might work.
If it wasn't for some of those blokes I don't know where I would be up to with this build.
I know I've done all the hard yards in making it work but when you need to know what other part might fit and be shorter that's when others have come into their own.
This week I'm picking up a front spoiler so I can mount the wheel arch flares in the right spot.
Once they are fitted with the front spoiler in place I can turn to mounting the rest of the dash with brackets to hold the top section in place.
That's about it before I start the long process of body and paint work.
All rust has been taken care of already so it's a case of getting it all straight as a gun barrel as the choice of color depends on it.
Yes I have picked a color already.
The paint code starts with 05 too.
No it's not a hdt replica either. It will only be 2 colors. Black for the blackouts and 1 other color that's under traps for now.

Sounds like you're getting a lot of satisfaction out of the process.

Fantastic! Wish it was always like that hahahhaa.

More satisfying that it worked out so far
The work that jas gone into this will never be fully understood by anyone I think because no one else has even tried to do it.
It truly is an engineering feet and a testament to what is possible if you really want to do something different.

Well today I managed to get a bit of time to cut the front guards and fit the front flares and front spoiler.
Not the wheels I will be running but sits perfectly on the tyre and clears all around when turning left and right.
These tyres are about 20mm higher at the top to what I will be running when finally finished. Should look shit hot when it's finished.
Just something else ticked off this list.

Photo time.

Well started to fit the vy adventra dash and console to day.
All fitting in well so far.
Have to pull the con7sole back out and fit the head unit to get the console and surrounds to fit properly.
But so far so good.

Fitted a bit more of the dash today. Now I have to pull the console back out to fit the gear shifter hand brake and ash tray.

You haven't sectioned it at all?  It wasn't too wide for the Torana?

No haven't cut it at all. Without the plastics that go around the vy dash pad they fit just about perfectly as you can see.
I had to trim it to the shape of the windshield but that's all.

Maybe at the front of the guards where the 4.2 badges went?

Well have been busy with other stuff. But now I have some time to get back into it. Have drawn up my drop tank plans. As I've changed the boot floor to a flat floor and and mini tubbed it. So the tank will be different from the normal shape slightly.
I have also opted for 4mm thick alloy over the standard 3mm.

Well dropped off th ally sheet today for it to be cut up and folded up for the tank. Also bought a piece of 12mm 6061 T6 to put in the lathe and machine it up to take the factory adventra fuel pump assembly and gauge.
I have retro fitted it with a walbro 255 pump that is rated for 750crank hp on pump fuel.
Have also modified the cradle assembly so it is small enough in height to fit in the drop tank.

Sat down today and started to set up my modified factory in tank fuel pump assembly.

Have fitted the walbro 255 pump in and filter along with new in tank rubber hose for efi. Not cheap at $42 per foot.
Have modified the assembly so it is the correct height to go into the drop tank and sit at 225mm tall over all to clear the floor and sit on the bottom of the fuel tank when fitted.
This allows me to retain the factory wiring and fuel gauge in the adventra dash.
So no problems with the system shutting down by being modified.
Last thing to do is connect the power wires up and it should all be sweet and run as normal when I start the car.
It also allows me to retain the factory beater on the fuel tank too.
Found some adapter fittings from aeroflow that convert the factory pump assembly outlet and return lines to -8 push lock for easy connection with the new -8 lines in the car.

Went over to a mate's place today and borrowed his lathe to machine up a mounting plate to fit the pump assembly. Just have to trim it to the shape I want it and drill and tap the retaining plate for the pump.

A close up of the locating grove for the rubber O ring and where I'm going to trim the plate down to. Had to cut the corners off it so it could spin in my mates lathe. That's why I'm going to trim it down to the size marked out. And will recess it down in the top of the tank so the outlet and return lines clear the boot floor.

I was thinking of Buying the weld in ring from CAE but decided to make my own as I want more than 4 bolts holding the retainer plate down to clamp the assembly in place. Plus I thought the price was over the top at $165
