I made one up out of steel to fit the tank on my truck.

Tried silver soldering it in but the joint kept breaking.

Ended up welding it in, the silver soldering over the weld to make sure any porosity was filled.

I used 5 bolts to hold it down.

I used a Bosch fuel filter as well.

It has an inbuilt pressure regulator so you dont need the return line.

Bought the filter from EFI Hardware in Victoria.

Cheers

Rob

That's fine for you and a steel tank. I'm building a drop tank for my hatch.
Just looking to help people save money by making more of them for others.

Trimmed up the ally mounting plate today for the addy fuel pump assembly.
Now have to wait for the rest of the tank to be folded up. Should have it back by the end of next week.

Anyone who says wiring harnesses are easy. Spends too much time doing them.
Modified mine today so I can mount the ecu in the cabin instead of the engine bay like they normally are on commodore's.
Pain in the arse. Now to get the correct size hole saw to drill the hole.

Well got the folded up tank yesterday. Because I used 4mm they said they couldn't do a sharp radius on the folds so it has a radius to each bend. Looks ok and definitely different from every other drop tank. Even the length of the flat sides is totally different from every other drop tank. This is because of other mods to the body shell.
All will be revealed in due time when the tank is put together.

Get tapatalk on your phone or tablet. Take photo on device. Post. Getting sick of people complaining they can't post photos. It doesn't get much easier.

How does it work? Pics? I have been thinking about a motorised hinge to hide a front number plate.

How about a sheet of clear LCD display until it has a voltage applied?

It's as basic as can be with a trumpet slid setup and a standard hinge to swing it out the way.
Just used a linear actuator ram on a 2 channel remote control. Slides in and out as a normal trumpet slide does. Nothing flash.

Well it's still slowly coming alone with a bit here and bit there.
Made up the custom drop tank for the car now.

There's a little surprise involved with the fuel tank that is very different.

That will be revealed with the car.

Good to see you are still chipping away at it. I hadn't seen any updates on facebook for a while and I was beginning to think it was all getting to hard.

Now that I have some answers I can let everyone know why things have come to a bit of a stand still on the project.

Over the last 6 years myself and my wife have had shit all luck and heaps of health problems to boot.
It all started off with a workplace accident that I had in December 2015.
My right knee was busted up fairly badly with a torn meniscus shattered articular cartilage and fractured subcordal bone. This has left permanent damage in my right knee that can't be repaired.
After a long battle with mental health because of this I was looking to return to full time work in 2020 only to have a stroke in February 2020 that was caused by a hole in my heart that had never been detected.
In October 2020 I had heart surgery to close the hole up and once again looking to return to work in January 2021.
This time around it was my wife's turn.
In February 2021 she was diagnosed with cancer and had a lengthy almost 7 hour operation to remove the cancer and lymph nodes from her body.
Dianne my wife had just about finished chemotherapy when I found out that I to could possibly be facing cancer after a growth was found in my bladder in early September while trying to find the cause of myself peeing blood for almost 3 months.
On the day I had my biopsy done the 22nd of September my wife was undergoing her last round of chemotherapy.
My beautiful wife Dianne is now in full remission from stage 3 endometrial and Stage 2 ovarian cancer.
Today I got the news that the growth in my bladder that was removed was benign so I too am all clear of Cancer too.

So you could day that the last 6 years have been one kick after another but we both have some good news to celebrate for a change.

I'm now waiting for an appointment on the 25th to find out what the road ahead will be for any future checks.

It's about time we had some great news and we are both looking forward to moving forward again when my wife has healed from all her treatment this year.

I think most of the population take life for granted and no one ever realises how precious it actually is until you face serious health problems - whether personally, or via close friends and family. It's really nice to hear your luck had now turned for the good mate. Enjoy life and spend time doing the things that you love. If that includes more Torana time, then excellent! All the best.
