Anyone know when roll cages became compulsory for racing? was it across the board or only a requirement for certain events/tracks? My XU1 (5/72)has a few minor tell tale things but no roll cage holes anywhere. Had a tail shaft loop, and washers welded to gearbox/diff filler plug with a piece of wire still hanging next to it, and not that sway bars are indicative of race history, but it had K Mac front and rear fitted when I got the car 2 years ago. As I knew the cars history only back to 1978. Previous 2 owners reckon it was raced by the 3rd previous owner at the Surfers Paradise Track sometime between 1974 and 1977. If there are any old fella's on this forum who have a good knowledge of cars raced at Surfers Paradise Raceway between those dates, please send me a PM and I will provide the name of the owner/driver. Car was Chateau Mauve back then.

The racing may have been club days, in which case the car wouldn't have to comply with Series Production scrutineering.
