Hi, I would like to share my project with you guys. My history is all Holden my first car was a LH sedan with the opal motor ( there's a lot to learn when your 17) I have had a SL/R 5000 and a SS Hatch since then and by the end of youth settled for a HX panel van to work in WA. After a life ( 2 x marriage and 1 x beautiful child ) I have decided to make my dream hatch back, Pro tour style. I have a LJ 2 door that I brought from my brother about 10 years ago and planed to put a LS1 and T56 into it but I wouldn't be able to get it certified in Tas and it would be to heavy over the cross member to enjoy driving it. So I Looked for a hatch back and found the LX ones were munted and over priced. The UC has the floor pan I wanted and the front suspension and as I was going to have to modify the tunnel I decided to do a conversion. The project has been going for 4 years so I thought I'd hold back until I was close. I'll add some more detail later. Thanks

I purchased the UC from Melbourne with just a few pics to look at so I book the ferry and went with the idea of not coming back empty handed. The car looked good but it was resprayed recently. I drove the car on to my trailer and that was that. The 202 will go into the LJ now and the Trimatic can have a rest, As I stripped the car I could see all the hidden jems it had been hit hard on the drivers front and the rail was badly bent the drivers door has 10mm plus bog around the B pillar and the rest of the car was in good condition other than standard doors and C pillar rust that had been left for me to fix. I had it media blasted and began the rust removal process

Good luck with the project Harvey.
What wheels do you have on the LJ?

Cheers Graham.

The rims on the LJ are GTS sport centres with chrome bands  10x14 and 8x14 custom made to suit the mini tub with HQ stud pattern, the fronts are to wide ATM so I might go 205's and change the rims to 7's

The plan is to do a full LX conversion inside and out. I was thinking of going the A9X option with the body but I decided the SL look is not as common and less is more

While I'm on holidays I've got the time to upload this. The car cost $9000.00 by the time I got it home ( ferry $1200.00 ) That was Jan 2012. I worked on it since then but in the last few years I've pulled my finger out.

Great start to a project.
I dont understand the hate towards the UC myself.

I have seen worse tail lights on a car before, but cant remember when. lol

Great progress so far.

Cheers

Rob

The car had been an old ladys daily until she swiped the passengers side. The guy I brought it off kept the motor and gear box but threw on the mags and seats ect to help it sell. Not bad for $4300.00
