Hello everyone I'm planning to put an XR6 Turbo motor and ZF 6 speed into my LX four door sedan. Ive searched though the forum and only found one thread that covered the topic however it seemed to have went nowhere.
Has anyone on here done the conversion? If so I would love to hear about it.

I did look at a VH 265 R/T engine in my LX hatchback years ago. It looked like there was going to be firewall clearance issues and possible radiator move. I gave up due to sump and oil pump location. The Ford 6 is a similar size so you may have similar issues, but as you are going to have to destroy the tunnel to fit the 6spd you can probably modify the firewall at the same time.

I’d also consider an aftermarket front end with power steering rack too, will give you lots more clearance.

Sounds like fun. If it was me though I’d be doing it to a Cortina like attached, but leave it looking like a Vicar’s car

Im hoping to be able to hookup the transmission to the column shifter as well if possible. I imagine making engine mounts, modifying the sump and expanding the trans tunnel would be the main issues to work around

I think you’ll struggle with a 6spd column. You may have to go to a push button controller.

I should be Right to machine up a devise that uses the position of the shifter in the column to tell the transmission what to do electronicly. I have an electrical engineer mate to help with that as well

Zf 6speed still use a cable to the trans. The manual 'sports' shifting is done electronically.
