So failed a rego inspection today because the ball joint was loose in the wishbone.

Pulled it out and the hole in the wishbone appears to be ok (measures at about 51.5 mm and seems to be still round, although you can see the spline marks on only about 1/2 of the diameter).

I was wondering if anyone knew what size that hole should be and what size oversize ball joints are?

Your talking lower obviously

STD is approx 51mm.. probably actually 2" which is 50.8

OS is 51.2mm allegedly

They say 7 thou - how accurate these things are is anyones guess

Like already mentioned, a couple of tacks. No welding of "steering" components. A fix put out by GMH was to stop the early LC lower control arms bending was to weld some round bar to them.

The old CRS HR front end upgrade kit involved considerable welding reinforcement to lower control arms, an engineered kit.

I recently replaced some lower ball joints and found the sizes not accurate

had trouble with one not fitting so ended up measuring them

the stock old one was about 50.67mm , the new joints where about 50.75mm and 51.05mm

both new joints had the same part number

So if you can go down to your local parts store with a set of verniers you may end finding something that will work
