Hi all

I am in the middle of a T5 and L67 V6 conversion in my LJ Torana.

After lots of searching the site I have found quite a few topics on the subject. I still have a few questions.

Firstly regarding the Clutch pedal.

I'd like to stick to cable for simplicity. I have the original 6 cylinder clutch pedal, will i need to extend this to allow for the cable to pass through the existing hole in the firewall (I'm thinking of fabricating an extension piece that will just bolt to the existing pedal). If so, what is the distance from the pivot center line that I will need? Then i was thinking of using a brass threaded fitting with nuts on each end to house the cable end and allow for adjustment, through the existing hole in the firewall. I was just going to use a T5 cable from a VN.

Secondly the accelerator.

How have people converted to a cable set up to match the modern throttle bodies? I have seen the aftermarket pedals for LC/LJ could I not use the same principle (extending the lever arm on the original pedal and use an aftermarket universal type cable or even a commodore one).

Just trying to brainstorm ideas before modifying/purchasing pedals

Regards

Savvas

I'm thinking I might use the factory linkage up to the box that goes onto the firewall for the accellerator

I have the box but it's missing the rod and clips to the pedal and the arm on and clips on the engine bay side as well.

I'm probably going to mount onto that and make a bracket to house the outer sleeve end.

Does anyone have a complete one of these?3fc7046ce74192a789e631e0af9b6b09.jpg

I used a UC accelerator pedal, which is all cable, then through the firewall where the original throttle pivot went through.

Copied a UC clutch pedal for the hook on the top & a UC cable. I'll see if I can find a pic.

Ended up going with the aftermarket rares style pedal. Rares were out of stock but I found an online seller that had them. Picked up one existing hole and had to drill a new one. Sealed the old ones up.

Cable ended up going through the original wiring hole. So I made up a couple of plates to sandwich the firewall that my universal cable could sheath through.

I'm hiding the wiring under the guard so I was okay with covering those holes.

I've since got the proper ball to put on the end of the cable before the little fitting.

The pedal reaches wide open before hitting the floor. But I'll do final adjustment after the dynamat and carpet get put in.

Now to move onto the clutch pedal. a8214148d6ae9b036fb8d348698af87a.jpg

^ I did a similar thing except I bent and extended the pedal rod to line up with original accel lever hole instead.

A longer lever at the carb helps tune the extended travel.

That accelerator set-up is not aftermarket, it's a Commodore unit.

That's interesting. I just got it off this online retailer.
