Transport Dept were anal up here. A mate had a Barbados LH SL/R L32 with M20. He put on L34 flares & spoilers and filled the flares with a set of 13 x 7 and 13 x 8 Dragways, as was the done thing back then.

He eventually/inevitably got pulled over by the cops and was given a ticket to visit the pits. He was forced to remove the Dragways and they also wanted him to remove the flairs and the spoilers because his car was an SL/R not an L34.

He argued with the Transport inspectors and eventually got to keep the flairs etc but the wide wheels were gone.

I know the Engineer I’m using said that they have been told by those higher up that they have to be strict on wheel offsets and widths. Whatever the donor wheel bearings are from dictate the wheel width and offset. So if you have HQ-WB rear wheel bearings you are bound by the optional wheel offset and width for HQ-WB. So you can only go 1” wider and 1/2” offset variation from HJ-HZ 14x7 polycast or WB 15x7. Meaning 8” max width.

yep. .regarding wheels..That's my understanding too.
Makes it easy for the cops...anything bigger than around 8 or 9 inches wide = typically illegal.

Annual inspections on vehicles that typically travel very low ks is a moronic idea.

i love all the anecdotal bullshit tales of how dangerous cars are from states without inspections. Should have seen all the coastal rust buckets in southern NSW when I was younger.

No annual inspections on H plate or Street Rod SR plate vehicles in Victoria, or your full reg daily driver for that matter.

Come to Mexico people, a car loving and car lovers state!

(except for all the speed cameras of course....)

Literally pointless if it goes ahead as yearly inspections, requires club membership and only applicable to club events

Will just leave mine on full rego if it goes ahead like that

I prefer the $90 for 90 days a year idea

Funnily enough the engineer i used based what i was allowed off my diff/axles/bearings being R31. He disallowed a 235/60/15 but allowed 225/50/16

My impressions......

WA Street Machines will do everything they can to get rid of inspections.

Club membership will be in.

Someway to accommodate "free driving" is wanted - ie same as impromtu runs on club 404

Have to wait for the negotiations to take place and the final details to roll out.

No use stressing yet.

But at least something is on the table....

They are a WA car club who has been instrumental in driving this. Hats off to them :)

Mick is a local car nut

Used to run an auto electrical mobile business

With him and Stan Khose pushing for change

Looks like we might actually get some things done

Might not suit everyone but its a step in the right direction I think
