I haven't checked to see if this topic has been discussed before but no doubt it has as it saves $$ but got the full rego bill today for the XU1 which I fully registered 12 months ago as didn't want to be locked into the conditions attached to historical rego but $936.80 (Queensland) is a bit steep for a car that's not used much. If I am to become a member of a car club in Qld to take advantage of the cheaper rego what do I need to do and any recommendations as to what club to sign up to (hope I'm allowed to ask this) cause I have no idea?

Hope you have plenty of pubs within a 15klm radius of your garage.

Yeh I know the restrictions on club rego in Queensland which from what I can gather are a lot better than most states in Australia. I'm just not sure how to go about it as would be keen to join a club of like minded enthusiasts but would probably prefer a GTR/XU1 type club so just want to know which one to approach.

Join a club. Participate in the club. Continue to be a financial member of the club. Ask your club nicely for a dating certificate using the clubs letterhead. Fill in the forms as per the link I posted above. Visit the DTMR and hand in all the paperwork. Should be about $220 per year. Ensure they enter the correct details for your CTP as Ive had them muck that up and that increased the costs. Advise your Insurance company of the change in rego status. Recieve a discount from them.
