Friend had a LJ with 308 and starter plays up when hot. So looking to change to high torque or reduction unit. There are extractors. Any suggestions on making it easier to remove old and fit new?

I can remove the starter on mine without taking anything else off. Job is easier with the front passenger wheel off though.

Same except with mine would take wheel off & engine mount bolt to jack engine up enough to get little extra clearance to get starter & bolts out.

Think I had hq brackets which sat it lower than lh/x reproductions...factory vs high torque starter, smaller one with 2 even length bolts
