Hi all.  Just wondering if you can use normal rubber hose on push lock fittings.  I know they want you to use push lock hose but does it matter as long as you have the correct hose for the application and clamp it?

 

Reason being I'm after a 120o hose end from the firewall for my heater hoses (90o just sticks out a bit far) and cant find that angle in standard heater hose fittings. Thanks in advance.  Cheers Ron

Heater hose onto a push on barn should work with a clamp. I have done it before.

I've usef std fuel hoses with push lock fittings with no problems, but that is under 3psi.

Thanks gents.  I can't see that it would be an issue but I haven't seen the fittings in real life.  Cheers Ron

I've tried to remove hoses from push lock fittings and have needed to slice it along the length of the barb, otherwise it's not going anywhere.

you really should use push lock hose on push lock fitting as the weave in the hose is designed to pull tight when pressurized or pulled on, and dont clamp it at the barb edges will cut the hose inside causing it to fail.

i use Parker brand pushlok for air lines to run rattle guns , no hose clamps poking out catching things. a spot of paint inside the hose and on the barb glues it on nicely .

you can get away with regular hose  but use a wire weave type clamp between the barb edges.
