I had to clean mine out after sitting for a few years & it's starting to play up again. Hoping these might be the easy fix.

While I haven't purchased a repo / aftermarket ignition switch , i have seen countless complaints from people who have .
My 2c : Take the original to a locksmith & have them recondition it.

I think you are confusing the ignition switch with the ignition/steering lock barrel. We've had many posts regarding cheap Chinese lock barrels but I haven't seen any issues with the switches.
A locksmith is not going to have crack at repairing an ignition switch, but he would be more than capable of repairing or re-keying an old genuine lock barrel.

Yep, I was referring to the lower switch, as what's in the link.

A lot of times the problem with an ignition switch is incorrect alignment, from general wear, on the steering column in relation to the positions of the ignition lock.
If the problem is the switch itself, they can usually be cleaned and greased to get them working again. but it can be a tedious job. The aftermarket ones work fine and can be an easier solution.
Original ignition locks can quite often be repaired/rebuilt/re-keyed by a competent locksmith. Again aftermarket ones are available but they have different sized tumblers etc to the originals, so they cannot be re-keyed to match other locks or your key, nor can they be repaired (a locksmith will not touch them, even though they probably sell them). If your original ignition lock cannot be repaired you are far better off finding another original and having it rebuilt.
