Hi all
Wondering if anyone can confirm whether LJ GTR 10/72 used the same chrome type air cleaner assembly as the LC GTRs?
Is there anyway to identify one as an LC or LJ, like a part number or date stamp? Are the two interchangeable ie will an LC assembly fit the LJ Carbie and vice versa?

LC GTR has WW stromberg, small two barrel. LJ has single barrel down draught stromberg, I think BVOX2, smaller diameter air horn. The base plates are different full stop.

Thanks guys. I have the correct single carbie for LJ just need the air filter assembly so keen to understand how the assemblies differ between LC and LJ GTR given most of the ones I see listed for sale are marketed for LC and LJ GTR however I’m not confident they are identical.

The LJ base will be same as HQ and therefore common as. Correct me if I’m wrong. The LC one is sought after, well by me anyway. But if it were me I would be sneaking a WW manifold and carb under there. Evil modifier that I am......

Yep, same top, different bottom due to the circumference of the air horns on each carburetor. The ww2 2 barrel uses a piece that sits in the top of the venturi, (it has 2 arms that hang down) to secure the top via a wing nut & base just sits on, where lj single barrel has a t handle that screws the base to the carburetor & a stud coming out the middle, same as hq & the wing nut go's on that. All you need is a lj hq carburetor, wing nut & base if you have the chrome top already.

Not all LJ have the chrome top iirc? Once ADR27 “clean air” engines (sealed with PCV) started to appear (around 8-9/73) didn’t the air cleaner change?

That is correct. The late 73 GTRs use the same black top (with snorkel) as the regular (late 73) 6-cyl engines, with the extra hole for the PCV return.

Also there is a small difference between the LC GTR top & the chrome LJ GTR top. The LJ one has a small hole (~5mm) for the PCV hose clip, the LC GTR has no small hole.
