How much play should there be , my bearing looks fine but there is a few mm of movement in the inner race ,is a new bearing tight or are they all a bit loose , don’t really want to change it if I don’t have to as it’s a difficult job

They're pretty sloppy to begin with, if it seems fine just leave it

I suspected a new one might be same , they look like a sloppy bearing and with the trouble involved in replacing it i think I might just leave it

Grease it up in-situ for a bit of a revival.
