... because people can't read, let alone comprehend, the Government's stance on public gatherings during this pandemic. There is plenty organisers can do to control risks and enable events to proceed. HSV could have gone ahead within the guidelines for outdoor gatherings. Food for thought for Torana Nats or Toranafest.

They are talking 6 months if people do as asked. It'll still be around but as large numbers of people will have been exposed to it and moved on it'll be less of a problem. That is of course if you become immune to it once recovered. Who knows how it will mutate. I still reckon we are in it for the long haul, or at least until the warmer weather comes.

The organisers just need to be smart. 100 people inside. 500 people outside. 1.5m spacing or 4m^2 per person. Very simple. Unfortunately the retards organising hsvfest could not comprehend these simple instructions and cancelled the whole event in Holden's final year. Control entrant numbers. Control spectator numbers. No problems. Larger organisations than the 'organising committee' of hsvfest are able to deal with these simple concepts, ie MNSW, so why can't we?

Gene, you're the sort of overreactor that I'm trying to inform. It's not the end of the world. I'm not sure I can put it any more simply so that you'd understand?

Just look at Italy. We need people to stay apart whenever possible or we’ll possibly get to the point where the health system cannot cope and like Italy health professionals have to choose who they save and who is left to die.

End game C is what we should be implementing by the end of this month at the very latest. Shut the whole country down, except for essential services, for at least two months.

Australia’s deputy chief medical officer states he hopes we can achieve a death rate of 1%. If any more than 40% of the population contract the virus that means we will lose more people than both WW1 and WW2 combined. But it is going to be for most of us, our parents and grandparents that die this time. And 1% is a HOPE. It could be 1.2% or higher. The only way to minimise it is to have enough intensive care respirators for all those who need it (see link).
Right now one person per hour is dying in New York and they need 5 times as many ventilators as they have.

Things are moving very quickly in terms of new restrictions on work and school attendance. The ACT is likely to follow NSW into shutting down non-essential services and schools and severely limiting travel within the next 48 hours. Fair enough. AFL postponed until the end of May. Bugger. Hope I still get paid if sent home. Being a public servant, and thus having the best job in the world, I suspect I'll be fine.
