Looking for a clutch for my 308 engine rebuild, engine is fairly standard probably a crow 5666 or 5603 cam so nothing big,  yella terra  heads and flat top pistons .

Looking at Exedy clutches its either the GMK-6087 or the HD version.

Question is do I need the HD and how much heavier is the pedal going to be with the HD with standard clutch cable/linkage setup

It really depends more on how you drive the car than how much power it makes. You can street drive for years without issue then fry it in one go giving it a hard time. Tall diff gears also reduce lifespan as you have to slip it more to take off smoothly.

I don't think you'll have too much problem with the heavy duty version so I'd go with that. Having tried non-organic linings they work well but have a very short lifespan, OK if you need the performance but don't drive it very often.

Mine now has a twin disc (but still full organic friction material) setup that cost a small fortune but coping well so far with both normal street driving and some abuse...

Xtreme clutch are a much nicer feeling clutch than exedy by a long way, even though they're from the same factory. Xtremeclutch.com.au should be easy to navigate for you. My personal choice of clutch, they do flywheels aswell. Gary.

What trans are you using?

For a mild 308 you need nothing fancier than a standard pressure plate and organic lined clutch plate on a stock flywheel.

Yes normal organic clutch plate for sure which the Exedy HD uses but just thought the HD pressure plate might be a better option. Will look up the xtreme clutch as well.
