Hey everyone, long time no see. Been quite a few years since I've been around these parts. Sold my LX and Torailer and moved on. Got a house, couple more kids, life gets in the way but I had been looking for an outlet for a while just to wind down and a bit of fun for my Dad and I (and the kids as they get older).
Played around with commodores and stuff, but was always looking for a torana. As prices went up I wasn't in a position to jump on anything. Back in October last year I was searching one night and found this UC. Complete country car which was what I wanted. Didn't seem to be much rust, no missing panels, full interior. Perfect starting point. Didn't bother me that its a UC, I like the old school experience. Plus I like the front...
Quick 5 hour each way trip to Orange on Bathurst Sunday and we made a deal and brought it home.

Stripped it down, replaced front passenger floor (no pics finished) and KBS the interior. Started on the boot and removed wheel well as had rust in bottom. Chucked in a flat piece and have an LX fuel tank to go in. Lick of seam sealer and KBS boot top and bottom. Done.

Next step is the engine bay. Car currently has a 202 and trimatic. I have a fresh 253 and trimatic which needs a home so will be chucking it in this (as you can tell by the title, budget means using whatever I have access to lol). It will make all the right noises and with the LX tank I can run dual pipes.
Started by ripping out everything in the bay, bit of smoothing going on by removing the battery tray and flattening the other side without affecting the body number. Wheel arches will be smoothed as well for a tidier look with all brake lines and wiring hidden. Even though its on a budget, theres so much that can be done with just a bit of time and work!

Pretty cool thing with that last pic. Peeled back the battery tray and found this sidchrome spannel labeled "k-frame" stuck at the very front of the chassis rail. I assume its something from the assembly line that has been dropped down the holes and sat there for 40 years!
Will update as I remember, not great at taking pics of everything but I've always loved using this forum as a way to document the build so hope you all follow along on my journey back!
