Not much happening around here but manage to splash some cash. This project has taken a hell of a turn from what was supposed to be get it running with the 202 and budget rebuild the brakes and drive it, to where its at now. No longer a budget build, if the name could be changed it would be more along the lines of “Mitch’s Blown Out Budget Budgie Build”.

So heres some more pretty brand new stuff. 9inch centre - 3.25 gears, alloy support, truetrac and 31 Spline. Will it hold up behind the 253… time will tell. Tailshaft to come and its done.

Theres now almost double in the rear end than what i paid for the car… wtf.

Also splurged on a set of front brakes. Was planning on using the turned down discs and finding a suitable H series caliper to use but prices were getting up there and finding a decent set was hard work. Have ordered a set of the 280mm wilwood torana kit from rodshop. Will fit behind the convos and do the job nicely.
Everything under the car is completely brand new, from the front end and suspension, motor, box, diff and brakes.
Next step will be to make up all new brake and fuel hard lines. I have the originals stored so I can copy them easily enough. Then it should be moving and stopping under its own power and motivation may kick back in to start on tidying up the body work.

Yeah I think it will hold up under the urge of the mighty 253 Mitch. Anyway you’ll have fun finding out.

No point messing around with diff and brakes... Build them once.

You don't want to have to upgrade them when you inevitably increase the power

Yeah the car has become a bit overkill for the 253 but as I said it was supposed to be really budget and I’ve been lucky enough to be able to spend a bit on it to do it once.
Theres an LS1 in the garage but I’m just not sold on the idea of putting it in as the motor upgrade…

Ohh how times have changed.
Lost all motivation in the car. Got thousands of dollars worth of parts sitting on the shelves in the garage with no care to get the car done with the current driveline so have decided to change direction with the car.
Bought a rodshop LS Kit and have started prepping to ditch the 253 and trimatic. Plans are a 10.5 drag car (no cage) - but built to satisfy a roadworthy to an extent if that makes sense. Instead of focussing on building the car for rego right I will build it for use and worry about performance first and enjoying the car and while doing that I can try and satisfy an engineer. .
Have slapped the panels back on with fresh hardware and hopefully will have it running by the end of the year. May be ugly but hopefully it will be fast.

Plans may change, who knows lol
