I have a similar stamping on my engine block below the starter which looks home made and there's also one on the casing of the gearbox although I suspect the gearbox number is a factory stamping which is probably a gearbox serial number I'm guessing?

Yes, that is a gearbox serial #.

Gearbox serial number I'm aware of, Yes, starts its T,
,
But not the date stamping on the bell housing,
Has any one else seen a similar date code on their bel housing?

Hi Warren,

 

That is factory date code stamping. I have a spare 6cyl bellhousing dated 11/08/70.
