Hi everyone,
Thought I'd share the build of my LC. Trying to do my part in keeping Holden alive and releasing another back into the wild! With this virus situation it's given me some time to really get stuck into it. Done a heap of work the past 6 weeks.
It's started life as a Oct/1969 gold 4 door, 173, 3 on the tree with tan interior (from memory - a while since I decoded it). Car hasn't been registered since 1983. I bought it for $2000 in really bad shape about 4 years ago. Was actually too big of a job for a 4 door to be worthwhile, but I was bored at the time and it came with nearly all the repair panels so was just labour. I worked on it for the first 6 months when I first got it but got distracted building a few other cars.
I'd list all the body repairs, but it's easier just to say I repaired every single panel. Mainly due to rust in every normal LC/LJ location, but had some small accidents over the years too.
Where I'm up to is I've completed all the repairs and epoxy sealed the whole car. I like doing this as it holds back any repairs and also gives you a chance to have a good look at the car in paint before priming it. Just 2 weeks back after knocking back the sealer and doing a couple of tidy ups on some repairs I finally have it in high fill primer.
Past couple of weeks I've been prepping the inner doors, dash and door jams ready for primer and might get all this primed this afternoon.
The driveline is a RB25DET with the matching R33 GTST 5 speed manual and a commodore Borg Warner diff. I have already rebuilt the full driveline and have a 3" thick wall tailshaft built. Engine is stock internals, just with a freshen up. Gearbox I just put new syncro's and bearings in. Diff has 31 spline billet axles with modified factory LSD and 3.9:1 skyline diff gears.
I know not to everyone's taste this conversion, but I'm into modified cars and EFI. Totally appreciate nice original factory cars though.
Brakes are the normal HQ front conversion with VN-VS commodore rear discs. May not be enough to stop it, but will see how it goes.
Here's a couple of photos of it in sealer and then primer.
