Hi guys will a large housing 9inch out of a 1978 Ford F100 fit under an LC torana after being narrowed etc. I’m looking to buy a 9 inch and found one at a good price.
Thanks

Yes it will once all the old brackets are removed and new torana brackets or mounts are welded in place, housing generally get straighted,.F100 use bigger bearing so who is ever is doing your diff will sort that for you,.perhaps with new axles,..the centre if later will more likely be 31 spline which is good and stronger than your standard 28 spline..hope this answer your question..

Not sure about LC's, but in my LX using the large centre housing resulted in the top bolt hole for trailing arm being about 25mm higher thsn stock banjo or you wouldn't get the bolt in.
I didn't mind as it helps launches same as lowering front hole on body. Not good for corners though.

I would imagine LC could likely have the same issue.

First question would be, do you really need a 9 inch?

Have seen lots of them fitted to the little Toranas over the years, so it is possible.

These days, the BW78 is enough for most cars that are road registered.

The added weight of the 9 inch can make the car slower compared to using a BW.

BW are capable of taking 500hp. Thats a lot of mumbo for a road car, especially something as light as an LC or LJ.

Cheers

Rob
