Hi all

I've had a good search and couldn't find any info.

Basically I'm at the point on my L67 Supercharged V6 conversion where I have been able to get the engineer out to look at it.

Amongst the list of things, mostly easy fixes. He got me to pull out the springs from the rear and Jack up the diff to check clearances.

A couple of issues have popped up. The bump stops that my diff place put on the commodore diff don't line up with the rail.

And in order for my tailshaft to clear the tunnel I'll need a bump stop of around 75-80mm

I was wondering if there is a bumpstop that I could use that doesn't have a tapered tip (bit wider at the top) that would fit in the LJ Torana bump stop mount.

Just to get me out of trouble before it's registered and I can take it back to the diff place to sort out.

Regards

The one you have there at the moment is for the 71.72.73 model so if you take out and use a 1969.70 they are a lot taller.

Cheers gong

I'm thinking if maybe the engineer will allow you to weld suitable sized metal plates to the chassis rails for the bump stops to contact to rectify the misalignment issue, and as John has advised fit the longer 1st type LC bump rubbers.

I'll get my hands on a set and I'll see if he is happy with that solution.

Thanks

Agree what Dave said...will def fix the problem...
Another alternative is to run koni poly urethane
bumpstops on the shock absorber i know koni sell a few ranges of them up to 55mm from memory..i have to run
bumpstops on the coil overs to pass registration...

But of an update

Due to the amount taller I needed the bump stops I ended up removing the old ones and welding a plate to the top of the bumpstop housing and gusseted down the overhanging portion for strength. Tapped a thread in the plate and used a bolt in bumpstop. Come up good and have plenty of thread engagement to space them up if needed. Its not pretty but. Got the go ahead from the engineer before I did anything.1e8d6d67e21b27631ae9eb664934c425.jpg
