LX hatch chassis number

Sorry to talk about this again, but I've sanded back where it should be, and still nothing... is this the right area?

Hi Anton,

 

Yes, that's where it is on my hatch. Stamped very shallow though so hard to read even without any build-up. Maybe yours had a new rail at some stage? Silly place for GMH to put such an important number, right there waiting to be demolished in a minor front end bingle.

VB-VH are in a worse place!

GMH didn’t care how easily the chassis number was damaged, they were a manufacturer not a repairer. The last ones with it in a less vulnerable location was HG. I think they moved it onto the shock tower away from the radiator support in VK.

The bolt for the bumper bracket has been changed to hex head, maybe its had a hit in that corner and the panel replaced.
