Is the starter motor on the Holden 4 cylinder same as the 6? They should bolt on as can use 4 cylinder gearbox behind 6. I've got couple 4 cylinder Commodores in paddock and some one asked me for a starter for a 202. Just as easy to take one off or go searching in sheds

Pretty sure the 4 cyl starter is slightly smaller than the 6 , it should bolt onto a six but might be a bit lower on output than the six cyl starter , did try a six starter on the 4 once and it would not fit , was a tad too long from memory , will try to get more info can't remember the exact differences.

The 4 banger starter is quite a bit shorter and not as fat as the one off the six , the small one might struggle to turn over the six ?

Wonder how it compares in size to the modern Bosch high torque replacement.  Should chuck a ruler in there to compare measurments.
