Hey there, does anyone have any info or a reference from Vic Roads where a Mod Plate issued in Victoria can be attached ?

From memory it was required to be in the engine bay as close as possible to the original compliance plate (still is this way for many states) however for Victoria I can't find any information on the mod plate position requirements.

I'm sure it can be attached anywhere on the car as long as it can be read so I was thinking to attach it in the boot or glove box, out of sight but accessible if needed.

Anyone got info on this ?

I have never seen a physical plate on a Victorian reg car (except for those done originally in other states).

Can you put up a picture of it please?

True you don't normally see them on Vic cars and why I'm thinking it can be attached anywhere.

All modified cars with M Plate club permit or fully registered in Vic would have one. For now, I'll be attaching mine in the glove box. ;)

Google "Victorian Light Vehicle mod plate" and you'll see many photos of what they look like.

Mod plates for non-ICV's used to be optional in NSW at least (I thought that was the same for Mexico), if the engineer or owner wanted one then you could have it fitted but up here you're required by law to carry a copy of the engineer's report with the vehicle anyway so a plate is a little redundant.

If fitted, the plate would at the very least need to be permanently secured to a non-removable part of the body, so riveted not screwed on, and not mounted on anything that can be transferred (easily anyway) from one vehicle to another.

So on a HQ for example, it can't be fitted to the inner guard because you can unbolt them, but on a Torana the inner guard would be okay. And seeing as the entire dash can be removed, I'm sure it wouldn't be legal in your glovebox!

I have no idea of the requirements in Vic.

In Qld the mod plate must be fixed to a permanent part of the body.

I shopped around for a certifier who would allow the plate to be mounted in the boot.

I removed the factory tags ( with the intention of refitting them in the boot if required ) & had some engraved tags made.

I've never heard of anyone being pinged for having the mod plate in the boot.

Those blue plates can destroy the look of a nice engine bay.

Probably fit on the A pillar like they do with modern cars

Back of the radiator support would be my choice if I ever needed to have one.
