The owner on the vehicle may only want to keep the body and engine no private and not displayed over a website
I have a Torana and my vin, body and engine numbers I wouldn’t want displayed over a website

After my incident with my tag being for sale on gumtree, I’ve actually found it beneficial to have my ID plates posted everywhere so that everyone is aware that those numbers belong to me. Otherwise it’s all just secret squirrel.

This is the best i am going to get out of the seller unfortunately.
As for your comment dattoman; i have truly tried to find someone locally i know or can trust in Sydney to help me, but don;t know anyone locally.

The PSN/VIN tag is for a GTR. 8D11LCH is a Brisbane build GTR except that tag has a punching error, a G instead of a C.
The body number on the Body ID plate is consistent with the build time frame for the chassis number and the Body ID plate is also from a Brisbane build GTR.
The only thing that is needed now is the PSN to confirm the VIN tag belongs with the chassis number and Body tag.
Final thing then is to confirm those tags belong to the actual car.

Yes, punching errors were not uncommon. Most errors are seen on Compliance plates and Body ID plates.

Have you asked anyone Sydney local to look at it for you? I'll go out on a limb here and offer to have a look at it for you. I know a little bit about these things and would rely on SPack, Gong and Bazza for the finer details. I also won't buy it out from under you cos I don't care for these things. Would be no way I would handing over $1000 before looking at any LC or LJ as 99% of them are piles of shit under the paint. You only need to look in here http://www.gmh-toran...projects-plans/ and cringe at the condition some are or were.

Gene, he wants a heads up whether it's worth his while to come across and seal the deal. If he doesn't like what he sees then he can leave it. If there's any doubt then I'll let him know. Like I would have done if I'd had the chance before my friend bought that '73 Bathurst XU-1 with the wonky flute.

I'd just like to thank everyone that contributed to this post, helping me complete my research and find out some more information on this particular Sydney "GTR".
A massive thanks go out to one person in particular (i won't name names in case it comes back) for helping out a stranger (me) and going out of their way to delve into old archives, historical reports, VIN numbers, Sales sheets and scanning every photo i had of the car with a fine tooth comb, to assist in making my decision and ultimately uncovering what this "GTR" really is.
In the end, the buyer was really putting the hard word on, to sell this and it has now been found out why... Let's just say I have dodged a massive bullet (more like a f#$%in grenade) with this one and the car IS NOT what it appears.
It just shows, it pays to do your homework and not rush in to buying anything that seems too good to be true!
When you have people that are willing to help you out, like on this forum (with so much shared knowledge), you really have no excuse
