Question.....

Not that I'm going to do any work on it yet... but I need to formulate a plan

Let's be clear...I won't be keeping the car...I'd hope to have it less than 12 mth from completion so I can move on to restoring my SS

LH sedan

Currently 6 cyl SL ... obviously going to be 308 (ish) and manual

Flare or no flares ?

Paint scheme ?

Original thought was no flares and do it sable metallic SL/R tribute (cars original colour)

Black vinyl interior

Attached File  sable slr.jpg   105.47K   7 downloads

Or even as a G-pack in same colour

But everyone poo poo'd that idea

Or maybe L34 tribute in same colour

Attached File  1974-holden-lh-torana-slr-5000-l34-sedan.jpg   284.52K   7 downloads

Then I thought I do love Ultrablue

So maybe an A9X replica with chamois trim

Attached File  ultra.jpg   101.07K   6 downloads

Or do I paint it up in racecar livery (black vinyl interior)

And if so... which one

Bearing in mind the desire to sell it on

I keep changing my mind and need guidance

Go L34 tribute. It will appeal to a wider range of buyers.

One of the top two. Looks good in Sable. They look really nice in Saffron too.

It's an LH so L34 it.  An L34 tribute will pull more coin at sale time.

The L34 saffron would be my choice, I love that combo with chamois trim.

It seems a shame to flare a non flared car nowadays, maybe an lh slr/5000 replica. I'd have no concerns chopping up a uc, but you hardly see an lh lx without flares now.

It isn't an SL/R so it doesn't make a big difference if it is the original colour or not. I reckon no flares and Deauville Blue.

Saffron L34. Friend has owned it since the late 70’s. Hopefully he’s OK for me to share it!

The HQ Sandman tags I have for my GMH “sports” vehicles display are off an L31 M21 Saffron van too. Great colour.

Hey Yel,
Do you know if your friend knows about the L34 Nationals next year?

I would do a Sable L34 replica.
But I would say that Barbados would get the best $$ when you sell. It will appeal to a broader range of people.

No idea. Unless it’s near him I doubt he’d be going.

No worries, could you pass on my email just in case he is interested in what I'm doing.

If you're not going to keep it unload it as-is. Let the next bloke make the hard decisions and spend the cash.

Agree with arrimar, if you are going to sell it let the next owner make the choices

However if you are going to do it, I would keep it no flares and original colour.

When I was deciding on mine I was not going to put flares on as I like the clean look. Colour was a great discussion in the shed with much advice mostly from my brother in law and his mates. No one was in favour of me choosing the original colour for mine as it was the Grandpa colour but I did and now every time I look at my car and I am very happy with the colour. Wherever I go people comment on what a nice looking car it is, even non-car people.

Mine is Aquarius with Chamois interior on a Sunbird which I always considered to be the Grandpa model but it looks great! Original looking cars are getting rarer.

Think you are going to need a few cold cans to help you choose

Casino and Deauville Blue didn't come out until October 1974, so no L34's. Although you never say never with one being painted Manderin at the factory even though that colour was released at the same time as the blues. The Deauville cars with flares look good though.

I really like red cars at the moment.

You can't argue with a woman about colour choice. God knows. I've tried.  :D
