According to the rumours, GM have had talks with Lindsay Fox, and he is not interested. Anybody got a spare 20 million???

The little Torana guys were so lucky to get in there and have photos taken on the speed bowl last year.  The L34 nationals next year had the same thing planned but I guess it won't happen now.

Even if we could raise 20 million, imagine what the running costs would be.  It is a moot point anyway. The Chinese will own it in six months.  :shoot:

Bloody huge! Plus if we converted the main building into accommodation for car collectors and enthusiasts, (my idea but just dreaming of course) that would probably be an other 20Mil...

I'm really hoping old Lindsay Fox does buy it, at least he has the money and he loves his cars and he is an Aussie  :D

Cheers,

Liz :)

Absolutely! I do look through the photos sometimes and reminisce...

Lots of green cars there that day but mine is here with the red windscreen banner :)

Such a shame that this place is closing down. I've been lucky enough to spend a bit of time down there and had a lot fun in the process! Particuarly over the last few years working with them on some big projects like Project Monaro and also the Motorsport/Magnum & Director Cars.

I'm normally the one taking or directing the photos, so I'm not normally in them, but here are a couple I managed to find!

6am photoshoots in the middle of June - Chilly!

Did some riding in the quarry!

Explained to Lowndesy how to do a burnout:

Plus had a bit of fun with Rob Trubiani in what was going to be The Nurburgring Ute Version 2 that would have smashed its own world record!

I had the pleasure of sitting in the passenger seat with Rob Trubiani for a lap of the speed bowl last year. He is a ripper bloke, and at the time, was one of GMH's greatest ambassadors.

I really do feel for him, and yourself Matt, along with all of the other employees who have been made redundant by some American wanker.  I don't think I will ever get over the closure of Holden.

Have you got any more photos or details of Nurburgring Ute V2? And do you know where it is now?

We can only hope it stays Aussie owned and look after the way it should be, if only I won the lottery. Haha

Prob get turned into high density housing. 250-300sqm blocks. Because that’s what Australians want these days. Well that’s what the real estate agents keep telling me.

The Vic government should buy it and turn it into a dirt bike park.

I have an Aprilia RXV 450 v-twin that will stop on the limiter in top gear at 178kph with 15/48,

I don't have any more pics of the Ute (at the time they didn't want us sharing any info about it), we were lucky enough to have a camera onsite to take photos! I've been trying to ask the same questions lately about the car. It would have been an unsaleable car, so I'm guessing it was probably crushed. They use to give these cars away to race teams or the like (Like the Beat The Heat organizations) to use as race cars, but with the closure I don't think that's happening :(

I know that the original Nurburgring Ute is still in Holden's Heritage Collection, it'll most likely be loaned out to Museums etc around Australia

So Matt? What's next for GM in Aus?

Not sure mate, the GMSV thing will happen. No idea what cars etc they'll bring though or when it'll launch. The talk I've heard is the same as whats in the media, Silverados, Corvette and maybe GMCs? We're still working really closely with their aftersales department trying to keep that part of the business healthy. There's still over 1.2 Million registered Holden's on the road - so they've got a massive amount of customers to still look after.
