Hi all,so I've fitted my handbrake lever and have had to adjust it fully on the thread to make the shoes engage,I would have thought with new genuine drums fitted etc I wouldn't have needed to adjust it up so much ,have I done something wrong ? or is this normal .Ta Paul.

Think you can you wind that barrel adjuster at the bottom between the shoes out to reduce the need for so much cable adjustment

Don't know about the little Torana brakes but on the LX there is a slot in the backing plate you can put a screwdriver through to wind the barrel nut

Good luck,

Yeah, back off your cable adjustment till its loose.

Adjust the brake shoes.

Then readjust your cables.

You've got the self adjusters fitted to the rear drums. Forward and reverse the car several times to self adjust the rear brakes then adjust your handbrake.
