No worries thanks mate, I had a look at Alfs GTR engine freshen up and noticed his was red.
Most of the bellhousing I have seen have the overspray on the top section , maybe this was attached to the engine before painting , then the housing copped a bit of overspray.

Thanks for that! I'm going to use the painted one as the silver one is unfortunately flogged out where the clutch fork ball is.
So if anyone has some ideas on paint removal without damaging the surface that would be much appreciated, it has etch , primer , then a top coat on it.

Hi Paul, in enamel or acrylic top coat I'm guessing ? I could strip that & hydroblast it like new. I'm in queensland but I've done a few bell housings. Can't really quote on something via a picture, it depends on how quickly it comes of. But it would look like nos when done. Gary.

Mate, yes you could paint strip it completely, get it really clean and then a hydroblast & it would look great. A lot cheaper if you did that prep mate. You can then epoxy & re paint the overspray back on. I've done about 4 of them. Obviously i like the factory overspray, but that's personal preference. I set up my hydroblaster for a particular finished look, other's may vary. It's all about the end appearance to me.

Yeah mate, the overspray back on looks factory, so It's the look for me. Hard to replicate though.
