Today marks 40 years since the disappearance of Azaria Chamberlain near Uluru.

This post doesn't want to deal with the actual case, but suffice to say, the Torana was a central piece of evidence in it.

Today the car will be on show at the National Museum in Canberra.

Some members will remember Michael Chamberlain (father and since passed on few years back) had the car on display at Toranafest on the Newcastle foreshore with the plate 4ENSIC.

I spoke at length with Michael on the day, whom I found a very interesting person and kept in touch with him subsequently afterwards.

FYI.

I met Aidan when he was an apprentice at a food manufacturing plant, I was there looking at their power system. He was talking to me about Toranas, can’t remember why. I eventually worked out who he was. Good kid, he was building a replica of his Dad’s car at the time.

I remember the car I got doors off when I repainted my hatchback was near identical to 4ensic. It was a yellow SL with tan trim, V8 auto. I remember thinking at the time that it was a dead ringer, this was the early 90’s. Still have it’s tags here somewhere.

Yes I was there that year too. They also had a copy car there too, 4MOVIE I think was its plate. He was a nice fellow and prepared to talk to anyone. I actually watched the doco on their case last night. They certainly got stitched up poor buggers...

That 4MOVIE car is the car Aiden talked to me about all those years ago.

I did have a pic somewhere of the 2 cars.

Must have a good look to post.

On the channel 7 doco last night they showed a Torana a few times but it didn't look like the standard yellow, was it the 4movie car?

Just remembered, pretty sure 4ENSIC had 18Y trim not Tan.
